Glendale is replete with Spanish history and culture, with events and activities like Fiesta Glendale to recognize the heritage. Founded by the Anglo-Saxons, today Hispanics and Latinos continue to make up more of this city’s population. In 2006, Glendale reported to the U.S. Census Bureau a total of 236,496 residents. Of that number, 82,467 came from Hispanic and Latino origin. The majority of that population — 54,683 — stated they used the Spanish language in their homes.

Glendale takes part in many activities to make it known of the present heritage of Hispanics and Latinos. For instance, there is a Latino cultural museum, and the public library takes part in many activities like bilingual story time, to educate the city’s children on this diverse culture. Glendale also offers generous entertainment for this population, including Latin music like mariachi bands and salsa dancing.
